Pathway secures $10 million for live AI development

Yesterday

Pathway has secured $10 million in a seed funding round led by TQ Ventures to further develop live AI systems that function in real-time, akin to human thought processes.

The recent funding round saw participation from Kadmos, Id4, Inovo, Market One Capital, and several notable angel investors. Among them is Lukasz Kaiser, the co-author of Transformers and a key researcher behind GPT o1 for OpenAI, who has been a significant supporter of Pathway since its inception.

Pathway's enterprise-grade AI solution is based on what the company claims to be the fastest data processing engine available. This technology handles dynamic sources of both structured and unstructured data, facilitating decision-making with continuously updated information. The company serves a variety of sectors, including those with stringent data security requirements, such as NATO and La Poste.

Commenting on the significance of live AI, Zuzanna Stamirowska, Co-Founder and CEO of Pathway, stated, "Live AI will be a critical enabler of the next generation of LLMs that support complex reasoning. Today, we empower organisations with complex, changing data sets to embrace real-time intelligence. This funding will help us create the missing components that will enable all enterprises, even those holding the most sensitive data, to address issues they've never been able to solve before."

The initiative is spearheaded by Co-Founder and CTO Jan Chorowski, alongside CSO Adrian Kosowski. Chorowski brings experience from his work with Geoff Hinton, a recent Nobel Prize-winning physicist and a pivotal figure in AI research.

Schuster Tanger, Co-Managing Partner and Co-Founder at TQ Ventures, expressed his optimism about the project by saying, "Zuzanna and the team at Pathway possess bleeding-edge insights and expertise in one of the most exciting fields in modern business. Pathway's success in sophisticated undertakings such as helping La Poste manage operational disruptions at the Paris Olympics is encouraging. Last and hardly least, the response from the developer community has been powerful."

This development signifies an important step forward in Pathway's mission to create AI systems capable of complex reasoning, with the company's offering gaining interest from a rapidly growing developer community in over 100 countries.

Pathway is building live AI systems that think and learn in real-time as humans do. Underpinned by the fastest data processing engine on the market and an AI framework, it lays the foundations for an organisation's full and evolving AI transformation journey without the need for re-platforming.

Based in New York City, TQ Ventures is a venture capital firm led by Schuster Tanger and Andrew Marks. The firm is generally agnostic on industry vertical and geography and instead prioritises business models with durable competitive advantages led by extraordinary founders across the software complex (B2B and B2C).
