Skillsoft integrates with SAP for enhanced skills insights

Yesterday

Skillsoft has announced a new integration with SAP's talent intelligence hub to enhance workforce skills insights for businesses and HR leaders.

Skillsoft's research highlights that only half of UK employees feel equipped with the necessary skills for their roles ahead of 2025, underscoring the need for focused upskilling efforts.

The integration combines Skillsoft's learning platform with SAP SuccessFactors, allowing enterprises to assess employee skills more effectively and deliver tailored training that corresponds with both employee career goals and corporate objectives.

"Talent is the fundamental building block of any organisation and achieving priority business objectives hinges on that talent having the right skills," said Apratim Purakayastha, GM, Talent Development Solutions, Skillsoft. "Skills-based strategies are essential for developing an agile, productive, and innovative workforce and business. Integrating Skillsoft with the talent intelligence hub from SAP SuccessFactors creates a simpler, more effective, and more engaging approach to talent development."

The integration enables organisations to match skills taxonomies between customers and Skillsoft's skill dictionary, effectively linking employee skills and roles with training experiences within SAP SuccessFactors. This aims to facilitate strategic workforce planning by aligning existing skills with job requirements.

Skillsoft's survey found that 82% of employees acknowledged their organisation's shift towards a skills-based model. However, a Gartner survey indicates ongoing challenges, such as 41% of HR leaders expressing concerns over a lack of required skills and 62% noting significant risks due to future skills uncertainty.

The integration presents several benefits: centralised skills management through a single source of truth, enhanced workforce agility to respond to market demands, increased employee engagement through personalised learning paths, improved talent mobility by identifying role-appropriate candidates, and optimised skill tracking with actionable insights for organisations.

The integration is available for early adopters, with full availability expected in early 2025.
