Auctane streamlines billing with expanded BillingPlatform use

Thu, 17th Apr 2025

Auctane has announced an expansion of its use of BillingPlatform across its suite of mailing and shipping products, intending to streamline its revenue lifecycle management processes.

The move will see Auctane consolidate its legacy billing systems for brands such as ShipStation, Stamps.com, Packlink, and Metapack onto BillingPlatform's Billing, Collections, Revenue Recognition and Portal solutions. This consolidation is aimed at managing revenues, billing, and financial reporting more efficiently across all its offerings.

As Auctane's business has expanded to serve over a million customers, including small businesses, major retailers, and platforms, the growth in shipping volumes has created new complexities for its finance team. The team has had to contend with managing data across various billing systems while also experiencing rising transaction costs with its previous provider.

Auctane's Vice President of Finance & Treasurer, Kristi Spence, discussed the reasons for the organisation's decision to expand usage of BillingPlatform, stating: "The combination of our multiple product offerings, diverse business models and our growing usage volume resulted in time-consuming processes and complexity for our team in terms of billing and financial reporting."

"BillingPlatform proved to be the all-in-one platform that will be our single source of truth across all our products so we have better insights into our revenue lifecycle, more cost-effective billing at high volumes and can easily be customised to our specific business needs."

The provider serves as a partner to Australia Post among others, supporting a global customer base with postal and shipping requirements.

The decision to fully migrate to BillingPlatform comes as part of a multi-year renewal, with future plans to bring all product lines under the new system.

BillingPlatform, which serves enterprises such as Carrier, DIRECTV, Instacart, J.P. Morgan, Panera and Vantage Towers, enables organisations to monetise various types of product offerings.

The platform is designed to support the entire monetisation process, covering product setup, quoting, billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, payment, and collections, all delivered through a cloud-based infrastructure.

According to Dennis Wall, Chief Executive Officer of BillingPlatform: "A key part of the overall e-commerce customer experience is fast, efficient and transparent shipping and return practices. Auctane's rapid growth is a result of their unique strategy, shipping expertise, global reach and innovative software."

"By standardising on BillingPlatform, Auctane gets a modern revenue lifecycle management platform with a consolidated view across all their products and the flexibility and scale to adapt to their changing business needs."

BillingPlatform has received several industry recognitions, including being named a Leader in the inaugural Gartner Magic Quadrant for Recurring Billing Applications, achieving the highest overall score in Forrester Research's 'The Forrester Wave: Recurring Billing Solutions' report, and leading in the MGI 360 Ratings Report for Agile Billing.

It was also named the Leader in QKS Group's SPARK Matrix Report for Subscription & SaaS Billing Management, included on Constellation Research's Smart Services Digital Monetization Platforms ShortList for 2024, and awarded the IDC 2024 SaaS Award for Customer Satisfaction in Subscription Management.

The company has also been recognised by Deloitte's Technology Fast 500, the Inc. 5000, and by SIIA CODiE as the Best Subscription Billing Solution.
