Ciphr unveils real-time HR & payroll system for better control

Fri, 12th Sep 2025

Ciphr has introduced a new HR and payroll solution designed to give HR and payroll teams greater control over their data management and processes.

The fully cloud-based system, based on open API integration, enables real-time data synchronisation and streamlines how HR and payroll professionals share and manage information. One of the main features of the solution is its pause and resume function for data synchronisation, which allows payroll administrators to halt and restart the flow of data as necessary - such as when making late pay changes or amending bank details - without risking unintended bulk updates.

Users of the system are able to make individual adjustments that are instantly reflected in employee payslips, and administrators can selectively manage the flow of HR and payroll data around key operational dates. An intelligent queuing function ensures that no data is lost when synchronisation is paused, and all necessary updates occur as soon as the process resumes.

This approach is intended to remove the longstanding inefficiencies and friction caused by less integrated or less flexible systems, where HR and payroll functions are hampered by fixed cutoff dates and manual intervention, sometimes delaying time-sensitive changes.

Julie Lally, Managing Director of Payroll at Ciphr, commented on the reception of the new integration:

"When we've shown HR and payroll teams the new integration, they've loved the level of control that we've given back to them. Our solution empowers both functions equally because they can continue working in real-time, in sync with each other. That's the beauty of it.
HR teams can maintain their live system unhindered by cut off dates or the need to wait for permission from payroll to make updates. And payroll teams control the flow of data – so ad-hoc changes don't mean a raft of extra manual admin input for them. It's a real game-changer for helping HR and payroll teams work more closely together. We believe it's the next generation of UK HR and payroll systems integration."

The new solution aims to deliver several key benefits, including real-time data synchronisation, selective data processing, continuous system access and support, intuitive workflows, comprehensive audit and change tracking, built-in compliance features, consolidated views of people and pay data, as well as potential cost and time savings for businesses.

Sion Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Ciphr, explained the motivation behind the development:

"Modern business demands better processes, better use of people data, and better-connected systems that help people to do their best work. The launch of Ciphr's powerful, integrated HR and payroll system is a very exciting development. It's an important investment in our product and customers, and highlights our continuing commitment to amplifying the pivotal role of HR and payroll professionals in delivering business success.
We spent time listening to our customers to fully understand their needs, their challenges, priorities and pain points. So we ensure we're delivering innovation that the market will value, and that helps our HR and payroll customers work smarter, more efficiently, and stay compliant. Ciphr's integrated solution ticks all the boxes. It's been designed by HR and payroll professionals, for HR and payroll professionals, and it's been very positively received."

Simon Witkiss, Chief Product Officer at Ciphr, highlighted the user-centric aspect and the impact on the reliability of payroll operations:

"Making sure employees are paid accurately and on time is critical. HR and payroll teams often feel intense pressure to get pay runs right. Because when payroll doesn't go smoothly, it causes frustration and more work for everyone. And it can be a point of friction between HR and payroll – particularly around data access and data flow. It's something that we're acutely aware of from our Customer Advisory Group research, and we've been actively looking to address with our new product developments.
Ciphr's new HR and payroll integration streamlines everything. It gives payroll teams control over data flow – they can turn the tap on and off and be selective about what they process – while allowing HR teams to continue to manage their system without any pauses to HR data processing. This reduces the possibility of errors and, ultimately, means both functions can work more efficiently together because neither is being held back by the other. Everyone's happier and, based on our feedback, it's a more delightful user experience all round."

The new HR and payroll integration is now available for demonstration and aims to support more than 1,400 organisations that currently use Ciphr's solutions, including a range of commercial, academic, and non-profit users throughout the United Kingdom.
