Wed, 7th Jan 2026

Payments provider Ecommpay has been shortlisted in four categories at the 26th FStech Awards, reflecting wider industry focus on innovation in digital payments, fraud controls and financial inclusion.

The London-headquartered company is a finalist for Retail Payments Innovation of the Year, Best Use of Embedded Finance and Open Banking, Anti-fraud Solution of the Year and the Financial Inclusion Award.

The FStech Awards recognise technology-led change across the UK and EMEA financial services sector. The programme covers banks, fintechs, payment firms and technology vendors.

Winners will be announced at a gala event at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. The awards are now in their 26th year.

Ecommpay positions itself as an inclusive payments provider. The company focuses on eCommerce and digital merchants that operate across multiple markets.

The firm said it designs products in response to market demand. It aims to increase both security and accessibility in online payments.

Ecommpay launched in 2012. It is headquartered in London and serves merchants seeking both global and local payment acceptance.

The company offers acquiring services. It also provides more than 100 payment methods through a single interface.

Ecommpay operates a payments platform that supports processing and orchestration. Clients access these services through one API connection.

The firm has integrated orchestration, open banking, recurring billing and direct debits into its core platform. It said this reduces the need for additional third-party systems for merchants.

The company promotes a model that links multiple payment services under one technology stack. It said this approach can streamline operations and reduce cost and friction for customers.

Ecommpay positions itself as a partner rather than a traditional processor. It places emphasis on payment flow optimisation and transaction performance.

The firm states that its work supports financial freedom and accessibility. It targets merchants that require connections into global financial ecosystems.

Ecommpay focuses on secure and convenient payment options for cross-border commerce. It sees this as part of a broader shift towards digital trade worldwide.

The business holds regulatory approvals in the UK. Ecommpay UK is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2017.

The company is also a principal member of Mastercard and Visa. Its platform holds Level 1 PCI DSS certification for card data security.

Ecommpay said the multiple shortlisting reflects ongoing investment in its product and technology roadmap. The four categories cover retail payments, embedded finance, fraud prevention and inclusion.

“We have committed significant investment to developing and improving our payments offering by expanding the solutions and payment methods available to our merchant customers as well as making every payment secure and accessible. To be shortlisted for these four sought-after awards is an honour, and reflects our commitment to holistic, meaningful innovation across the entire business,” said Willem Wellinghoff, UK Chair, Ecommpay.

The recognition comes as financial institutions, payment firms and retailers increase work on digital channels, fraud detection tools and alternative payment methods. Industry attention on open banking and embedded finance has also grown.

The Retail Payments Innovation of the Year category highlights new approaches in consumer and merchant transactions. Ecommpay faces competition from banks and fintechs that focus on mobile, instant and cross-border payments.

The embedded finance and open banking category covers companies that integrate financial services into broader digital journeys. It centres on initiatives that use open banking interfaces, bank account connectivity and data-driven payment flows.

The Anti-fraud Solution of the Year category recognises initiatives that address rising levels of digital fraud and scams. It focuses on tools that identify suspicious behaviour and protect merchants and consumers.

The Financial Inclusion Award highlights work that broadens access to financial services for underserved groups. It examines efforts that increase payment choice and reduce barriers to participation in the digital economy.

Ecommpay continues to extend its platform and payment method coverage across markets. The company expects further demand from merchants that seek a single provider for local and international payment acceptance.
