Edenred partners with Visa to expand digital payments in Europe
Edenred and Visa have entered into a partnership that will see Edenred become a principal member of Visa and allow it to certify its in-house issuing and processing infrastructure with Visa Europe.
Through this agreement, Edenred will be empowered to issue Visa credentials across its activities, which encompass Benefits, Engagement, Fleet, Mobility, and B2B Payments. The collaboration is aimed at reinforcing Edenred's technology capabilities while simultaneously offering Visa enhanced access across Edenred's key markets.
Broader capabilities
The partnership brings together Visa's global payment network and Edenred's market knowledge and proprietary technology platforms. Edenred will gain access to Visa's latest commercial payment solutions, including B2B payment capabilities for insurance payouts, travel supplier payments, and other use cases within embedded finance.
This access is expected to increase flexibility, security, and efficiency for businesses and their workforces by enhancing payment processes. Both companies aim for the partnership to deliver practical benefits to clients and end users through improved payment capabilities.
Clément Le Chatelier, Chief Product Officer at Edenred, said:
"Our partnership with Visa is a clear proof point of Edenred's technology leadership. Integrating Visa's network and innovations within our PayTech platform allows us to scale faster, offer more choice, and deliver unmatched value to our clients. Together, we're extending Edenred's reach while helping businesses modernize payments across Europe and beyond."
Focus on commercial payments
For Visa, working with Edenred supports its strategic priorities for enhancing commercial payments. By leveraging Edenred's platform, Visa will help deploy new payment solutions designed for businesses and employees.
Lucy Demery, Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, Visa Europe, said:
"By combining Visa's global capabilities with Edenred's platform, we're unlocking exciting new possibilities for innovation and growth across their business lines. This collaboration is a powerful example of how we can work together to deliver seamless, secure, and meaningful payment experiences that empower both businesses and their employees alike."
Looking ahead
Edenred and Visa aim to deliver locally adapted payment experiences that they believe will improve business process efficiency. Both organisations have a history of collaboration in markets such as Latin America and the United States. Building upon this, the first Visa-enabled Edenred virtual payment solutions are scheduled for introduction from the beginning of 2026 in Europe, with further programmes planned later.
Edenred currently manages close to EUR €45 billion in business volume annually, conducting transactions primarily through digital channels such as mobile applications, online platforms, and cards. The company's payment solutions span several domains, including food benefits, employee engagement services, mobility, and corporate payments.
Visa operates one of the world's largest digital payments networks, facilitating transactions in over 200 countries and territories. Visa's global reach will now be integrated with Edenred's activities in Europe and additional regions, targeting commercial growth and process modernisation for clients utilising their combined services.
