Emburse has expanded its travel and expense partner ecosystem through new partnerships with Flight Centre Travel Group, TempoTrip and World Travel, along with a broader collaboration with Mastercard. The move adds to a network of more than 100 technology partners.

The additions are intended to give customers more choice in how they connect travel booking, expense management, payments, finance and HR systems. Emburse presents the approach as an alternative to relying on a single supplier for booking, payments, expense and analytics.

The expanded relationships bring in three travel management and travel technology groups with different areas of focus. Flight Centre Travel Group is extending its integrations with Emburse globally. TempoTrip is adding links for meetings, events, crew and project travel. World Travel will provide travel receipt integration and expense workflows for enterprise and mid-market customers.

Mastercard's broader role centres on virtual card payments within the Emburse platform. Emburse said customers will be able to use virtual card programmes from their preferred banking providers through Mastercard's network, while linking payment data more directly to expense reporting and reconciliation.

Emburse said its model is based on open architecture, allowing organisations to choose their preferred travel management company, enterprise resource planning system, HR platform, payment provider and expense tools. It argues that this structure lets businesses update travel and expense systems in stages rather than replace them with a single closed platform.

Marne Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Emburse, said customer control over supplier relationships was a central issue in corporate travel. "Business travel is too critical a function to relinquish control to suppliers," Martin said. "Organisations shouldn't have to choose between innovation and flexibility. By expanding our ecosystem with industry-leading travel partners, we're giving customers the freedom to bring their preferred TMC while connecting travel, expense, policy, and AI into one adaptive, intelligent experience."

Emburse is seeking to connect several parts of the travel and expense process, from booking through payment, expense submission and reconciliation. The objective is to reduce manual work, improve visibility into spending earlier in the journey and strengthen policy compliance.

Partner roles

Flight Centre Travel Group said the integration would connect booking data directly to Emburse's expense systems. "Flight Centre Travel Group is expanding our integrations with Emburse globally, giving more organizations a way to streamline travel management through intelligent expense automation," said Ama Amsellem, Vice President of Product Management, Fintech at Flight Centre Travel Group. "Business travelers shouldn't have to think about expense management after their trip. By connecting bookings directly into Emburse, we're eliminating manual steps for travellers and giving finance teams real-time visibility into travel spend. It's a win on both sides: less admin for the traveller and more control for the business."

TempoTrip said the arrangement reflects demand for travel tools that extend beyond standard business trips. "Organisations need travel technology that's purpose-built for every type of travel, not just traditional business trips," said Maurita Baker, Chief Executive Officer at TempoTrip. "By integrating with Emburse, we're helping our mutual customers simplify meetings, events, crew, and project travel while connecting booking, expense, and financial workflows into a more seamless experience."

World Travel described its role as linking travel receipts and expense workflows across customer systems. "World Travel, Inc. joins Emburse's open ecosystem to deliver seamless travel receipt integration and intelligent expense workflows for enterprise and mid-market customers," said Brett Elzinga, Chief Customer Officer at World Travel, Inc. "The partnership reduces manual expense reporting while helping organizations standardize travel and financial data across their technology landscape."

Payments link

For Mastercard, the focus is on embedding virtual cards into travel and expense processes. Mastercard said that could help organisations automate reporting through transaction data captured at the point of payment.

"Emburse's commitment to an open, connected ecosystem aligns closely with Mastercard's vision for modern B2B payments," said Mary Beth Livengood, Executive Vice President, Corporate Solutions, North America at Mastercard. "By embedding Mastercard virtual cards directly into Emburse, organizations can streamline payments, automate expense reporting through real-time transaction data, and strengthen compliance. Through Mastercard's broad ecosystem, customers also gain the flexibility to access virtual card programs from their preferred banking providers, delivering greater choice and efficiency across the travel and expense experience."

Emburse also linked the partner expansion to its use of artificial intelligence in expense controls and governance. It said its AI systems are intended to support data sharing across booking, payments, ERP and expense tools, with the aim of improving oversight and reducing reconciliation work.

Michele Shepard, Chief Revenue Officer of Emburse, said the value of the model lay in bringing together data from separate business systems. "Emburse connects travel suppliers to intelligence," Shepard said. "Every critical business system generates valuable data, but the real advantage comes from bringing those insights together. Our expanding partner ecosystem helps customers connect travel, expense, finance, HR, payments, and AI to make smarter decisions today while giving them the flexibility to adopt the innovations of tomorrow. That's how organizations build a modern, intelligent travel and expense strategy."
