HP appointed national ambassador for cyber resilience group

HP has been announced as a National Ambassador for the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG) during Cyber Security Awareness Month 2024. The appointment marks a significant step in the global technology company's support for enhancing cyber security across small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the UK.

The role involves HP joining prominent organisations such as Aviva, CGI, Chainalysis, ISC2, Mastercard, Microsoft, NatWest Group, Resilience, SANS Institute, SAS, Sir Robert McAlpine, The Very Group, and Trustify as partners in NCRCG's mission. The initiative aims to strengthen cyber resilience and build a talent pool of skilled cybersecurity professionals throughout the country.

Over the past year, HP has been actively involved with the South East Cyber Resilience Centre (SECRC), one of the nine regional centres that constitute the NCRCG network. David Scutt, Global Head of HP Wolf Security Sales, has served as a Non-Executive Director at SECRC, contributing his expertise to the centre's operations. The SECRC is a collaborative effort led by policing to offer affordable and high-quality cyber resilience services to SMEs in the region.

Reflecting on HP's new role as a National Ambassador, David Scutt said, "Having served as a Non-Executive Director on the South East Cyber Resilience Centre Board, I have seen the incredible impact the National Cyber Resilience Centre Group (NCRCG) is making on UK businesses. I am delighted that HP has joined as a National Ambassador to help protect businesses and UK plc from the constant threat of cyber attacks."

Scutt further noted the rapid evolution of cyber threats, highlighting the use of generative AI by criminals to create sophisticated phishing attacks. He emphasised HP's dedication to protection, stating, "HP has designed its solutions to protect all users—from consumers and small businesses to corporate enterprises and global organisations—understanding that most endpoint attacks succeed by tricking users into clicking on something malicious."

Detective Superintendent Ian Kirby, CEO at NCRCG, welcomed HP as a National Ambassador. He said, "In welcoming HP on board as a National Ambassador, we are building on the support the company has shown to the South East Cyber Resilience Centre and will be looking to leverage their insights at a national level for the benefit of businesses across the country."

He also remarked on the importance of such partnerships in driving forward NCRCG's mission. "This partnership with HP is testament to the high calibre and influence, both in the UK and more widely, of those National Ambassador organisations who are showing their commitment to strengthening our nation's cyber resilience," Kirby added.

NCRCG was established in 2021 as part of a strategic collaboration involving the Home Office, policing, National Ambassador partners, and academic institutions. The group's aim is to fortify the cyber resilience of the UK's SME community.

The addition of HP as a National Ambassador underscores the ongoing effort to increase awareness and improve cybersecurity measures across businesses during Cyber Security Awareness Month 2024.
