Hyland launches AI tools for finance, SAP & education

Tue, 21st Apr 2026 (Today)

Hyland has launched a set of AI-focused products for finance, SAP and higher education workflows, alongside updates to its Content Innovation Cloud platform.

The new products are Hyland Agentic General Ledger Coding, Hyland for SAP S/4HANA and Hyland for Workday Student. The additions are intended to embed AI tools within existing business systems rather than separate applications.

Agentic General Ledger Coding is aimed at accounts payable teams. It replaces manual general ledger coding with AI recommendations, while retaining human review and using confidence scores to indicate the strength of each prediction.

For SAP users, Hyland has introduced an integration for SAP S/4HANA that connects content management and process automation to SAP workflows. The product provides access to governed documents in context and is designed to operate within a clean-core SAP environment without custom code.

In higher education, Hyland for Workday Student adds document upload, search and management functions within Workday Student workflows. It is designed to handle student records in a way that prepares content for AI use while reducing manual administration.

Hyland has also updated the wider platform. Enhancements to Content Innovation Cloud focus on search, information access, document processing and the structuring of unstructured content across regulated sectors.

Platform changes

Among the updates, Hyland IDP adds new controls for usability, configurability and accuracy, along with dashboards intended to improve document review and data quality oversight. Knowledge Discovery now includes centralised guardrail management and updated model lifecycle handling for AI models used to access information across repositories through natural language queries.

Knowledge Enrichment, another element of the platform, is designed to convert unstructured content into structured data for AI systems. Customers now have more control over context enrichment so outputs can better reflect specific domain requirements.

Hyland has also brought its Content Federation Service into the Content Innovation Cloud. The service connects OnBase, Alfresco, Nuxeo, Perceptive Content and SharePoint 365 to cloud-based AI tools without requiring content migration.

It also outlined updates across its established software portfolio. PACSgear 25.2 adds single sign-on support, more language options, greater job visibility and expanded DICOM search for healthcare imaging workflows.

Nuxeo 2026.1 introduces MongoDB Atlas Search and instant trial environment creation through Nuxeo Online Services Connect. Alfresco 26.1 includes changes to search, process testing tools and integration with other business applications, while Perceptive Content 26.1 adds a unified app experience, Content Federation Service connectivity, interface changes and broader security and platform support.

Michael Campbell, Chief Product Officer at Hyland, said the company was trying to address a common problem facing organisations that have trialled AI tools but struggled to connect them to day-to-day operations.

"Organisations don't need more disconnected AI tools; they need intelligence embedded where work actually happens," said Michael Campbell, chief product officer at Hyland. "Our latest product innovations extend content management and AI directly into the systems our customers rely on every day, turning insight into action while preserving the governance, trust, and control required to operate at enterprise scale."

Industry analyst Alan Pelz-Sharpe said the latest releases reflected a broader shift in the software market from AI assistants that offer prompts to systems that can carry out more defined tasks within business processes.

"Hyland is moving beyond generic AI experiments to deliver agentic capabilities that act on governed enterprise content in the flow of real work," said Alan Pelz-Sharpe, Founder and Principal Analyst at Deep Analysis. "By grounding AI agents in a strong information architecture and domain-specific content services, Hyland is helping customers shift from assistants that merely suggest to agents that can securely plan, decide and act across complex, regulated processes."
