LexisNexis launches Lexis+ AI in UK market following growing interest
LexisNexis Legal & Professional has announced the commercial availability of its new product, Lexis+ AI, in the UK market. This launch follows successful introductions in the USA and Australia.
Lexis+ AI brings together generative AI and proprietary search technology. It has been developed with input from major global law firms, including Macfarlanes, Eversheds Sutherland (International), Pinsent Masons, and CMS UK, to meet the day-to-day requirements of legal professionals.
"We selected Lexis+ AI as it is the most advanced legally-trained AI solution on the market. It will enable us to maximise the value of the legal intelligence we already access from LexisNexis," commented Eleanor Windsor, Partner, Director of Knowledge Management, at Irwin Mitchell.
The platform integrates LexisNexis's extensive legal research and practical guidance content, providing users with secure interactions and accurate results quickly. Users benefit from Lexis+ AI's conversational search, intelligent legal drafting, summarisation, and document upload capabilities. These features are aimed at simplifying complex legal research and improving productivity through automation.
The conversational search function allows legal professionals to interact with the AI, explore insights, and request refined outputs. Document drafting facilitates the instant production of contract clauses and client communications from brief prompts, while the summarisation feature provides case summaries within seconds. Additionally, the document upload capability enables rapid analysis, summarisation, and extraction of key insights from legal documents.
LexisNexis emphasises robust data security and privacy measures, with uploaded documents purged at the end of each session and options for users to manage or delete prompt conversation history. The company constantly evaluates and refines the AI model, with legal subject matter experts sampling numerous AI-generated answers to ensure accuracy and reliability.
"This is a pivotal moment in the history of the UK legal industry. We are delighted to deliver a generative AI solution that will safely and securely enable our customers' success," said Gerry Duffy, Managing Director of LexisNexis UK. "We have had unprecedented levels of interest in Lexis+ AI from our market, and as of today, many of our customers will be enjoying the competitive advantage of having access to our rich and authoritative content combined with our leading AI technology."
LexisNexis asserts that its AI solutions are developed responsibly, following the RELX Responsible AI Principles. These principles require considering the real-world impact of their solutions on users and proactively preventing the creation or reinforcement of unfair bias.
The introduction of Lexis+ AI is expected to bring significant advancements in the way legal professionals conduct research, draft documents, and analyse cases, potentially setting a new standard for AI-driven legal technologies in the UK.
