Sean Preston joins PG Investments as Head of Wealth
Sean Preston has been appointed Head of Wealth Partnerships at PG Investments, part of the Perpetual Guardian Group.
Preston, who assumes his new role in mid-October, was most recently Chief Commercial Officer at the digital payments firm Immersve. He has an extensive background in the finance and banking sector, including significant leadership roles at Visa, where he led teams across Southeast Asia, Australasia, Italy, and the United Kingdom. His career also encompasses consultancy roles in the payments industry and business transformation projects with Westpac. Additionally, Preston is active in the blockchain sector as an executive council member at BlockchainNZ.
Reflecting on his new appointment, Preston stated, "After more than 30 years in banking, payments, and more recently in the Web 3 space, this is a natural next step in my career and I look forward to this new journey. I have a long-held passion for financial literacy and enabling individuals to improve their financial position, and my role with PG Investments is a fantastic opportunity to leverage my experience to date to work with the team to develop and execute the strategy to grow the wealth management business."
He further noted, "Perpetual Guardian Group is more commonly known for its fiduciary business and many people may not realise it has around $2.8 billion in its PG Investments wholesale funds management business across 12 funds and is looking to enter the retail market. There are tremendous opportunities to unlock, and I am really looking forward to collaborating with our talented team and partners to explore these and deliver exceptional value to our clients."
Patrick Gamble, Chief Executive Officer of Perpetual Guardian Group, commented on the appointment, "For our Group, this year has been a story of growth by acquisition and moving the right people into the roles that will position us strongly for the next phase of our fund management business, PG Investments. This business is performing strongly and has successfully bedded in the Castle Point Funds Management business acquired earlier in the year. We are extremely pleased to have a leader of Sean's calibre and diversity of experience join the Group – his skills and relationships will be invaluable as we expand our competitive offering."
Sean Preston holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance from the University of Auckland.
