Token Recovery appoints Scott Pounder to lead global operations
Token Recovery has appointed Scott Pounder, a digital asset recovery specialist and former Metropolitan and City of London Police detective, to lead its operations.
Pounder brings over two decades of experience in cybercrime investigations, having worked on high-profile cases involving complex blockchain and digital asset matters. In his new capacity as Head of Token Recovery, he will oversee international investigations to assist clients in reclaiming lost or stolen digital assets.
Pounder previously served as Managing Director at Prometheus Insights, a role in which he directed digital asset recovery initiatives that involved advanced blockchain tracing techniques and collaborations with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and legal professionals.
Vladimir Cip, Head of Operations at Token Recovery, highlighted the significance of the appointment.
"We are delighted to have someone of Scott's experience joining Token Recovery. He brings a deep understanding of intricate investigations, a forensic approach, combined with a high level of professional qualification in the blockchain, digital asset and investigation space. His hands-on knowledge is exceptional, and he has provided professional guidance in nearly 100 legal cases."
As a guest lecturer at the University of Cambridge, Pounder regularly shares insights on digital asset investigations and the complexities of blockchain technologies. He is also a published author, having contributed nearly a dozen articles and papers to the field. Most notably, he played a role in a major UK High Court case in 2022, in which his blockchain forensic analysis was instrumental in establishing the rightful ownership of contested cryptocurrency assets.
Reflecting on his new position, Pounder said,
"I am excited to be joining Token Recovery at this time and looking forward to working with our clients to help them recover their lost or stolen assets. I have been fascinated by blockchain since I first noticed the technology some years ago, whilst working in the Economic Crime Command and this role provides the perfect opportunity to bring together my decades of investigative experience and my deep knowledge of blockchain."
Prior to his recent role, Pounder held various senior positions within the digital asset and blockchain industry. His career in law enforcement encompassed roles in the Central Specialist Crime Command unit of the Metropolitan Police, the Financial Investigations Unit of the City of London Police, and in the Fraud, Financial Investigations, AML, and Cyber Crime unit.
Pounder's professional qualifications include a Master's Level Qualification in Advanced Investigative Practice (APCIP, Pearson) and certifications from a range of organisations such as Chainalysis, Crystal Blockchain, Merkle Science, INTERPOL, the Blockchain Council, and the National Crime Agency. These credentials reflect his specialist expertise in both technical and forensic blockchain investigation.
