Accenture buys Sagacity to boost customer intelligence
Mon, 26th Oct 2026 (Today)
Accenture has acquired UK customer intelligence firm Sagacity, adding more than 140 specialists to Accenture Song in the UK and Ireland.
The deal brings Sagacity's data and customer intelligence capabilities into Accenture's marketing and customer division as companies seek clearer returns on artificial intelligence investment. It is intended to strengthen Accenture's ability to turn customer data into operational programmes focused on retention, revenue and more tailored services.
Founded in 2005 by Anita Dougall, Malka Townshend and Harry Dougall, Sagacity is based in London. The company works on customer data, analytics and technology for organisations with large customer bases and complex service relationships.
Accenture did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
Customer focus
The acquisition reflects rising demand from large companies to connect data, AI tools and day-to-day operations rather than run isolated pilot projects. That demand has been especially visible in banking, retail, utilities and telecommunications, where businesses are under pressure to retain customers, improve service and generate new revenue from existing relationships.
For Accenture Song, the addition expands delivery capacity across strategy, design, implementation and operations in the UK and Ireland. It also strengthens the unit's customer intelligence offering, which has become more prominent as companies try to use first-party data more effectively amid higher customer expectations and tighter scrutiny of marketing and service spending.
Consultancies and technology services groups have been using acquisitions to build specialist teams in analytics, AI and customer operations. Clients are moving beyond testing generative AI and related tools and are asking for projects more directly tied to measurable commercial outcomes.
Sagacity's work has focused on helping clients understand customer behaviour and act on those insights through data-led decision-making. Combined with Accenture's broader consulting, technology and operations business, the acquisition gives the group greater scale in areas where clients increasingly want integrated programmes rather than separate advisory and execution contracts.
Accenture presented the deal as part of its broader acquisition strategy in higher-growth segments and industry specialisms. It has regularly bought smaller firms to add expertise, sector knowledge and regional scale across its business lines.
Leadership comments
Sohel Aziz, senior managing director of Accenture Song in the UK and Ireland, said the acquisition reflects a shift in client demand.
“Our clients are increasingly looking to connect data, AI and operations to drive growth and reinvent customer experiences,” Aziz said.
“Sagacity's deep expertise and outcome-focused approach will enhance our ability to help clients turn insight into action and achieve measurable results through intelligent customer operations. Together, we can help organizations move faster, make smarter decisions and create sustainable value,” he said.
Anita Dougall, chief executive officer and co-founder of Sagacity, said the transaction would broaden the reach of the firm's existing work.
“Joining Accenture represents an exciting opportunity to accelerate the impact of our people, data and technology,” Dougall said.
“By combining our expertise, data and know-how with Accenture's scale and innovation capabilities, we can help more organizations deliver meaningful business results,” she said.
The transaction adds to steady consolidation in data, analytics and customer advisory services, as larger professional services firms seek specialist assets that can be embedded in broader transformation work. With boards under pressure to show results from AI spending, customer intelligence has become a more central part of growth plans rather than a stand-alone marketing function.
Sagacity's team will join Accenture Song's UK and Ireland operations, extending its reach from customer strategy and design to implementation and ongoing operations.
