Camunda unveils SAP integration to streamline automation

Tue, 24th Sep 2024

Camunda has revealed an integration with SAP aimed at reducing automation complexity and enhancing flexibility within SAP environments. This development is poised to aid users in seamlessly orchestrating SAP workflows across various endpoints, including people, systems, and devices.

This integration is expected to bridge the alignment between business and IT operations, fostering increased agility, speeding up development processes, and mitigating risks associated with SAP transformations. SAP remains a critical component in the technological infrastructure of numerous organisations globally, being utilised by 99 of the world's largest companies. However, more than 50% of companies encounter challenges in process automation due to the involvement of multiple systems.

To further support the integration, Camunda has enlisted Volker Buzek, an IT architect and one of only 40 SAP Mentors worldwide. Buzek brings substantial practical knowledge and established connections within the SAP ecosystem. His addition to the team aims to bolster Camunda's expertise in SAP environments.

According to the 2024 State of Process Orchestration report, a significant number of organisations face complexities in their processes due to their multi-system nature. To address this, Camunda's orchestration solution leverages an open, composable architecture that integrates both SAP and non-SAP systems. Utilising Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standards allows businesses to align both IT and business stakeholders in their automation initiatives, thereby expediting development and implementation processes.

Jakob Freund, CEO of Camunda, stated, "Investing in SAP is a strategic priority for Camunda in bringing the value and benefits of orchestration to these business-critical environments. The addition of Volker will be instrumental in accelerating our efforts and serving SAP customers with the knowledge and expertise these systems require. We look forward to continued investment in the SAP ecosystem and empowering SAP customers to get more value out of their automation efforts."

Camunda's integration with SAP is seen as a move to help organisations harmonise their complex processes by providing a unified orchestration platform. This initiative pledges to enhance the cooperation between different business units and IT departments, enabling quicker development cycles and more efficient SAP S/4HANA migrations.
