Dootrix & Confused.com join forces to revamp mobile app

Thu, 9th May 2024

Dootrix, the Microsoft Azure specialist, has reported a strategic partnership with Confused.com to revamp its mobile insurance application. The venture aims to enhance the user experience while introducing innovative features. The collaboration leverages Dootrix's expertise in digital and data technology, along with the deep-seated insurance sector knowledge of Confused.com. The joint endeavour will explore new modes of helping mobile users optimise everyday insurance transitions using the site's insurance channel.

The new alliance will result in Dootrix utilising Microsoft's latest cross-platform development framework, MAUI. Dootrix, with a portfolio including clients such as Heathrow, Gridserve, British blue light services and universities, will formulate a consumer data platform to facilitate user interaction with customers through the mobile application. The app will feature the entire range of insurance products on a single dashboard.

The partnership will produce a host of new, trialled features. By using different techniques and interaction methods, valuable feedback can be gathered to shape a more personalised experience for users. This will empower users to exercise better control over the full lifecycle of Confused.com's features.

"We are delighted to be working with Confused.com to help build its mobile capabilities," said Rob Borley, Dootrix's CEO. He emphasised the partnership's potential to grow the ecosystem of the app, boost user experience, enhance development efficiency, and future-proof the mobile app. The Senior Product Manager at Confused.com, Katie Hearn-Cross, underscored the significance of technology in reaching a more diverse audience and expressed her excitement about the continued collaboration with Dootrix.

The partnership brings along Dootrix's robust understanding of the latest mobile technology. Dootrix is set to work hand in hand with Confused.com during its transition from Microsoft Xamarin to Microsoft's latest framework: .NET MAUI - a tool for creating modern, multi-platform iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows apps.

Dootrix Account Director, Tim Cravenskyj, who supervises the partnership with Confused.com, stated, "In today's rapidly evolving mobile app development landscape, staying ahead of the competition requires businesses to adopt the latest technologies and frameworks."

Tim flagged that the end of Xamarin is near, as the planned discontinuation of product support is set for May 1st this year. He further stressed that businesses using Xamarin should be aware of this change and transition to stay competitive and current. "By embracing MAUI," he added, "your business can stay at the forefront of mobile app development, delivering high-quality, cross-platform experiences to your users while minimising costs and efforts associated with maintaining separate codebases."
