Emburse has introduced integrated itinerary management to its enterprise mobile app, providing business travellers with the ability to view bookings and submit expenses within a single application.
The update enables users to access their full travel itinerary alongside expense management tools without switching between different platforms. According to Emburse, this integration is designed to make business travel more manageable, particularly for employees conducting business activities while on the move.
Streamlined travel and expense process
The new integration allows users to view check-in times, booking confirmations, and policy-aligned expense actions while also managing receipts and submitting expenses. All functions are brought together in a single unified interface aimed at reducing workflow friction for both employees and finance teams.
Paul Nagy, Chief Product Officer at Emburse, explained the rationale for this development:
"This is travel simplicity at its best. By unifying travel itinerary information and expenses in one app, we're making life simpler for business travelers and giving finance teams the real-time visibility they need for predictive spend orchestration within their organization."
The update forms part of Emburse's ongoing work within the area of Expense Intelligence, where the company is focused on helping organisations change their approach from reactive management of travel and expense to more predictive and strategic operations.
Support for employees on the go
Business travellers regularly face a range of logistical challenges, including last-minute gate changes, compiling receipts and the task of submitting expense reports, often while en route between locations. With itinerary management and expense actions combined, Emburse's app aims to ensure that travellers can act in real time, such as scanning a receipt or submitting a hotel charge as they occur, reducing errors and improving compliance.
Rex Heineman, Global Travel & Expense Manager at General Mills, commented on the potential benefits for their workforce:
"Emburse makes travel simple, seamless, and not time-consuming so our employees can focus on their main job – manufacturing, selling, and marketing our products."
Predictive controls for finance teams
The update also offers enhanced capabilities for finance teams, who can now access real-time expense activity. This provides data that is actionable at the point of transaction, which can help transform traditional expense workflows into ones that are predictive and proactive. Emburse sees this as an extension of their AI-first platform strategy, which aims to embed intelligence into travel and expense processes before money is spent.
Nagy expanded on the implications for finance oversight and control:
"Millions of dollars are spent during business travel, but lack of real-time action and visibility leads to expense inaccuracies and spend leakage. This launch is more than an enhanced feature - it's part of an intelligent infrastructure that helps finance teams see, guide, and impact travel spend before it even happens."
Ongoing product evolution
The unified experience in the Emburse Enterprise app is presented as part of a wider move in financial operations towards intelligent and automated management of enterprise spend. The company has indicated that additional integrations, such as Emburse Book, enhancements to Emburse Go, and Emburse Reshop, are planned in coming months to build on this foundation.
Integrated itinerary management will be made available globally to users of Emburse Enterprise beginning 1 August 2025.
