Goldman Sachs has named Gil Mandelzis one of its Most Exceptional Entrepreneurs of 2026. Mandelzis is Chief Executive Officer and Founder of financial technology company Capitolis.

He was selected from entrepreneurs across multiple industries, Goldman Sachs said.

The recognition adds to a career in financial markets technology spanning more than two decades. Before founding Capitolis, Mandelzis started post-trade processing company Traiana in 2000 and led it until its USD $250 million sale to ICAP in 2007.

After the acquisition, he joined ICAP's Global Executive Management Group and later led EBS BrokerTec, the group's foreign exchange and fixed-income electronic markets business.

Founded by Mandelzis in 2017, Capitolis works with banks and institutional investors on balance sheet, capital, funding and liquidity issues. Its backers include venture firms Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Spark Capital, alongside banks and market groups including Bank of America, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citi, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Standard Chartered, State Street, Tradeweb Markets and UBS.

The business is built around tools designed to help financial institutions manage constraints on capital and market activity. Its client base includes global and regional banks as well as institutional investors.

Track record

Mandelzis has previously received recognition in business education circles and the financial technology sector. His work at Traiana later became the subject of a Kellogg School of Management business case study, reflecting the company's growth from an early-stage business into an established market participant.

Capitolis has also appeared in a range of industry and corporate rankings, including lists compiled by Fortune, Inc. and CNBC, as well as recognition from Deloitte, Fast Company, GlobalCapital and Euromoney. It has also received workplace awards from American Banker and Crain's New York Business.

The Goldman Sachs entrepreneurs list is now in its 15th year and focuses on founders and chief executives of fast-growing companies. Past honourees have gone on to lead multibillion-dollar businesses in private and public markets.

Mandelzis said the latest recognition reflected both his experience as a founder and the work of the broader business.

"It's a great honor to be recognized by Goldman Sachs on its list of the most exceptional entrepreneurs for the second year in a row," said Gil Mandelzis, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Capitolis. "Entrepreneurship is the closest thing I know to alchemy, and it has defined much of my life. Capitolis continues to experience tremendous growth and momentum, and this recognition is a testament to the dedication and achievements of our entire team, as well as the strong partnerships we have with our clients and the broader market that continue to drive true innovation."

Goldman Sachs also framed the award in the context of industry change, including the role of artificial intelligence in reshaping business models and competition.

"We are pleased to recognize Gil Mandelzis as one of the most exceptional entrepreneurs of 2026," said David Solomon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs. "As AI reshapes the global landscape, the leaders at Capitolis are proving that agility and vision can be the ultimate competitive advantages. They are not simply building a great enterprise; they are redefining what is possible in their industry."
