Provider of digital accessibility solutions, Level Access, and UserWay, an innovator in accessibility AI technologies, have announced the signing of a definitive agreement for the former to acquire the latter.

Both companies aim to develop advanced digital accessibility solutions, aiding organisations to initiate and accelerate sustainable digital accessibility programmes.

UserWay utilises AI-powered software to facilitate the identification and optimisation of code to boost digital accessibility for various mediums including websites, apps, and digital documents.

Their technology is trusted by millions of websites worldwide to augment usability for people with disabilities. The incorporation of UserWay’s technology and team into Level Access's suite of solutions, including its market-leading digital accessibility platform, is set to extend the reach of its profound subject-matter expertise to organisations of varied scales.

Tim Springer, CEO and Founder of Level Access, praised the team at UserWay for their development of "incredible automated remediation technologies that enable organisations to move faster in their digital accessibility programs."

Springer anticipates that the unique combination of Level Access's full-service digital accessibility platform and UserWay's technologies will introduce powerful new tools to Level Access’s clientele and position them with a robust solution set for organisations of any size and maturity.

Allon Mason, CEO and Founder of UserWay, shared Springer's enthusiasm for the agreement, expressing his admiration for the Level Access team and their blend of technology, service, and subject-matter expertise.

"This transaction delivers compelling value to our shareholders and provides our team with a great opportunity to bring our technology to a broader market. We are unified by a shared mission to make the world more accessible," Mason stated, voicing his belief that the partnership will expand and hasten what they are able to achieve.

UserWay will continue to operate under its existing name and brand as part of Level Access. Allon Mason will remain UserWay's CEO and will take on the role of President of Level Access. The completion of the transaction is anticipated in early 2024, pending approval from UserWay’s shareholders and the receipt of standard regulatory approvals.

Nfluence Partners served as the financial advisor and Sullivan & Worcester as the legal counsel to UserWay in this transaction. Level Access received legal counsel from Latham & Watkins LLP and Herzog, Fox & Neeman. JMI Equity and funds managed by KKR, existing investors in Level Access, continue to support the company's growth.

Delivered through a comprehensive suite of software, expert services, and training, Level Acces's solution aims to ensure customers websites, desktop and mobile applications, embedded software, gaming software, digital products, and electronic documents are accessible to everyone.
