Major coup for Mindgard with new VP from cybersecurity unicorn Snyk
London-based cybersecurity start-up, Mindgard, has registered a major coup with the appointment of Benji Weber as Vice President of Engineering. Mindgard specialises in safeguarding businesses AI, GenAI, and LLM solutions. It has secure financial backing, having raised 3.5 million from premier investors such as IQ Capital and Lakestar. Weber arrives from rapidly growing cybersecurity unicorn, Snyk, where he was a key leader in their engineering arm.
Undertaking pivotal roles at Snyk, Weber led engineering teams across the company's software composition analysis (SCA), static application security testing (SAST), and security research products. Bringing a wealth of experience to his new role at Mindgard, accumulated from over 15 years of constructing and developing engineering organisations, most notably within fast-paced cybersecurity and cloud start-ups.
As VP of Engineering at Mindgard, Weber will direct the progression of Mindgard's cutting-edge AI security platform. This first-of-its-kind, full-stack solution facilitates businesses to construct and implement AI systems securely, by automatically identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities through penetration testing, threat detection, and protective countermeasures.
Weber commented on his joining Mindgard: "As businesses rush to capitalise on the immense potential of AI, they are exposing themselves to new and poorly understood cybersecurity risks. Mindgard is pioneering a completely new product category that will be critical for the secure adoption of AI across all industries. I'm thrilled to join this mission to make AI safely accessible to all."
Peter Garraghan, CEO and co-founder of Mindgard, applauded the appointment of Weber as a significant achievement: "Benji is a visionary engineering leader who has built core security capabilities used by millions. His experience scaling Snyk's product suite from early-stage to enterprise readiness will be invaluable as we rapidly grow Mindgard into the definitive platform for AI security."
Before his tenure at Snyk, Weber held executive positions including at advertising technology firm Unruly (now Nexxen, part of Tremor International). Weber boasts a solid academic base, being a computer science graduate from the prestigious University of Warwick.
Mindgard is paving the way in AI security, recently launching a gratis tool, AI Security Labs. This enables security teams to carry out penetration testing against a range of AI vulnerabilities, from data poisoning to model theft. With a profound commitment to capitalising on the accelerating market for AI security solutions, Mindgard continues to make significant strides, backed by a robust 3.5 million in funding from leading investors.
