Today

NTT DATA UK&I has appointed Matt Johnson as Solution Director for its Energy and Utilities practice, as the sector seeks to address decarbonisation challenges.

Matt Johnson brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new role at NTT DATA UK&I. Previously, Johnson served as Chief Digital Officer at Enzen Global, and has held positions with prominent firms including Deloitte, PwC, Capgemini, and IBM. He has also served as a board member for Trinity Management, where he oversaw projects with Cadent Gas, particularly the implementation of the West Midlands gas mains replacement programme.

Johnson's extensive experience includes collaborations with oil, gas, power, and water providers such as Shell, UK Power Networks, Cadent Gas, SGN, nPower, WWU, ENWL, Welsh Water, Yorkshire Water and Thames Water. In his new capacity, Johnson will lead the current and future solutions within the Energy and Utilities practice at NTT DATA UK&I.

The appointment comes at a significant period for the energy sector, which is grappling with the dual challenges of meeting emission reduction targets and ensuring grid resilience. With his expertise, Johnson aims to provide solutions for smart grid technology, renewable energy integration, and critical infrastructure cybersecurity.

"With the rise of smart grids, decentralised power generation, and pressing 2050 net-zero targets, we're confronted with challenges that demand new solutions," said Matt Johnson. "NTT DATA is ready to lead this change through our full-stack capabilities. Our vast consulting experience and expansive portfolio of services for the energy and utilities sector enable us to deliver the forward-thinking solutions our clients need."

Johnson further commented on the company's readiness to tackle industry challenges: "From integrating renewable energy sources into the grid and advanced demand forecasting, to infrastructure modernisation and robust cybersecurity solutions, NTT DATA is ready to support organisations in addressing their most pressing challenges. It's a critical time for our industry and, as part of NTT DATA, I look forward to not just responding to industry challenges but actively shaping the future of energy."

Simon Reid, Head of Energy and Utilities for NTT DATA EMEA, expressed his enthusiasm for Johnson's appointment, stating: "We are delighted to welcome Matt to NTT DATA. His ability to empower teams and his deep understanding of the sector's challenges make him the ideal person to drive our solution portfolio forward. Matt joins us at an exciting time as we prepare for significant growth. His experience implementing a wide portfolio of solutions and working within complex infrastructure projects will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and deliver exceptional services for our clients."
