POWWR names Martin Eade as Chief Operating Officer

Thu, 16th Apr 2026

POWWR has appointed Martin Eade as chief operating officer, putting him in charge of the company's operations function.

He will oversee the Customer Success and Broker & Compliance teams as the Manchester-based energy software provider reshapes its leadership structure.

Eade brings more than two decades of experience in software and technology businesses, including senior leadership roles focused on digital transformation, international expansion, and mergers and acquisitions across the SaaS sector.

POWWR serves the energy and utilities market. Its software is used by more than 20 energy suppliers and over 1,100 brokers in the UK. The business previously traded as UD Group.

Operations brief

Eade's remit covers the full operations function, a move aimed at improving alignment across the business. Bringing Customer Success and Broker & Compliance under one executive is intended to create clearer lines of responsibility as the group expands.

The role will be central to how POWWR manages service delivery and customer-facing operations, placing Eade at the intersection of internal processes and relationships with suppliers and brokers.

Chief executive Paul Hodnett explained why the business chose Eade for the post.

"Eade's approach is grounded in customer excellence and operational rigour. He has consistently delivered results by putting customer needs at the centre of business transformation, developing high‐performing teams, and driving innovation in service delivery," Hodnett said.

"His experience spans platform migrations, product launches, international market entry, and large‐scale integrations. He has also led growth strategies, organisational restructures, rebrands, and partnership schemes."

Sector background

POWWR operates in a market where software providers to energy suppliers and brokers face pressure to update systems, meet compliance demands, and improve customer service. In this segment, operational management can affect how quickly platforms are introduced, how client accounts are handled, and how support functions are organised.

Eade's background points to a focus on change programmes in businesses undergoing expansion or restructuring. His work has included leading teams through platform migrations and market-entry projects, as well as overseeing integrations following acquisitions.

The company described his leadership style as collaborative and data-driven, with an emphasis on continuous improvement. He has also worked across a range of industries with teams in different markets.

Growth focus

The appointment comes as POWWR continues to scale its software operations in the UK energy and utilities sector. The new structure is designed to strengthen alignment between teams that deal directly with customers and those handling broker and compliance matters.

That could be significant for a provider whose client base includes both energy suppliers and brokers, two groups with different operational needs. Bringing those areas under one executive may simplify reporting lines and create a more unified approach to delivery and support.

Eade also commented on his decision to join the business.

"I have been monitoring POWWR from afar for some time and been really impressed by its development as an organisation," Eade said.

"I am particularly passionate about SaaS, digital transformation, and building cultures where people and technology work together to deliver meaningful outcomes for customers. As such, POWWR was the perfect company for me."
