Shona Petley promoted to CFO at Ascertus

Sun, 11th Aug 2024

Ascertus has announced the promotion of Shona Petley to Chief Financial Officer. In her new role, Petley will be responsible for strategic financial decision-making and overseeing the company's overall financial performance. Ascertus provides document and information lifecycle management solutions to law firms and corporate legal departments across the UK and Europe.

Petley initially joined Ascertus in 2019 as a Financial Controller. During her tenure, she played a critical role in establishing and developing the company's finance and accounting function. Her duties included team building, payroll management, implementing accounts payable and receivable systems, and overseeing in-house management accounting and reporting functions.

"This promotion recognises my contribution to the company and presents an exciting opportunity to take a more active role in strengthening the company's commercial position," stated Petley. "I'm particularly eager to focus on improving profitability and developing strategies that support sustainable business growth."

Petley brings over 20 years of industry experience to her new position. Prior to joining Ascertus, she held various roles at Magnox Ltd, an organisation with 10 physical sites across the UK. Her achievements there included overhauling corporate governance processes as an Accounting Technician, leading a successful cost-reduction initiative as a Management Accountant, and producing essential financial and non-financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders as a Business Analyst.

Roy Russell, CEO of Ascertus, commented on the promotion: "This promotion is truly well-deserved. Shona has seamlessly grown into the role of CFO, and this title change reflects the work she is already doing. Her expertise and guidance will play a significant role in driving our business forward."

Petley is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Her extensive experience in finance, coupled with her strategic acumen, is expected to bolster Ascertus as it continues to expand its service offerings to legal-related businesses.
