Ecommpay shortlisted twice at prestigious UK awards
Ecommpay has been named a finalist in two categories at the UK FinTech Awards. Its Payouts via Hosted Payment Page product is shortlisted for PayTech of the Year, and its Head of Regulatory Compliance, Alpa Jotangia, is shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year.
The UK FinTech Awards recognise companies and individuals across the UK's financial technology sector, with a focus on technology and innovation in financial services.
Ecommpay's shortlisted product supports payouts through a hosted payment page. It is designed to help businesses send funds to payment cards and return deposits made through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Payouts product
The hosted payment page approach targets payout scenarios where the sender does not have a beneficiary's full details. Ecommpay positions it as an option for firms that need to complete disbursements without collecting card information directly.
For online merchants, the company says the approach reduces in-house development work and can lower compliance effort in payout flows that would otherwise require merchants to build and maintain more of the process themselves.
Hosted payment pages are commonly used for card payment acceptance, where a customer completes checkout in a provider-managed interface. Ecommpay applies a similar model to outbound payments, including card-based disbursements and certain wallet-related returns tied to Apple Pay and Google Pay deposits.
Payout tools have become a more visible part of the payments stack as platforms, marketplaces and digital service providers handle higher volumes of refunds, commissions and other outbound transfers. At the same time, these firms face growing expectations around security controls and regulatory processes as payment flows diversify.
Compliance focus
Jotangia's Rising Star of the Year nomination highlights regulatory and risk leadership, a function that has gained prominence as payments firms expand into new markets and add payment methods. Ecommpay describes her as a compliance professional with experience in regulatory strategy, governance and risk management.
The company says her work has delivered measurable impact on shareholder value, regulatory standing and organisational culture, and presents her as a compliance leader who balances growth with integrity.
Ecommpay operates a payments platform offering acquiring and access to multiple payment methods through a single API. It says it supports more than 100 payment methods and provides payment processing and orchestration features.
The platform also includes orchestration, open banking, recurring billing and direct debits, which Ecommpay says can reduce reliance on third-party systems for some clients and simplify operations.
Ecommpay is headquartered in London and was founded in 2012. In the UK, it is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2017 for the provision of payment services. Ecommpay is a principal member of Mastercard and Visa, and says its payment platform has been certified to Level 1 PCI DSS.
Willem Wellinghoff, Chief Compliance Officer and UK Chair of Ecommpay, said the nominations reflected the strength of this year's competition.
"The judges have said the candidates were extremely strong this year, so we are delighted to be shortlisted. At Ecommpay we are committed to developing the best solutions and the best people, and this double shortlisting confirms our success on that mission. We look forward to celebrating with the FinTech community in April," Wellinghoff said.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in April.
