Blackdot unveils AI tool to automate financial crime probes

Fri, 26th Sep 2025

Blackdot Solutions has launched Videris Automate, a new artificial intelligence platform designed to accelerate financial crime investigations by automating open source intelligence collection, risk analysis, and reporting.

The platform is aimed at organisations working in sensitive and high-stakes settings such as banking, financial technology, and compliance. It provides these organisations with the tools to expedite investigative workflows, enabling faster case closure while maintaining investigator control for ethical and auditable outcomes.

Accelerating complex investigations

Videris Automate allows teams to automate the targeted collection and analysis of open source intelligence (OSINT) data. This involves integrating information from diverse data sources, including corporate records and adverse news, to help organisations respond rapidly to risks, conduct screenings, and perform due diligence. The automation of these processes is intended to reduce costs and drive efficiency, freeing up investigators to focus their expertise on more complex cases.

The platform is differentiated from traditional automation tools by its use of large language models and agentic AI. These technologies power core tasks such as data collection, entity disambiguation, network and risk analysis, and the summarisation of results. Automated reporting features allow for immediate case resolution, while the system ensures that investigators remain part of the decision-making process to comply with regulatory and ethical requirements.

Human oversight and regulatory standards

When an investigation requires greater scrutiny, Videris Automate facilitates a transition to Videris Investigate, giving investigators flexible access to data sources and interactive network visualisation. Blackdot Solutions has emphasised that the system is engineered for public and private sector environments where evidential and regulatory standards are stringent. All outputs from the platform are designed to be explainable and fully auditable.

Speaking on the launch, Stuart Clarke, Chief Executive Officer at Blackdot Solutions, said:

"These new capabilities reflect our belief that AI has the power to transform investigations, introducing a new way of working that makes investigators not just faster, but fundamentally more effective. OSINT traditionally relies on unstructured data, making AI a natural fit for extracting meaningful insights and driving efficiency through automation. The real opportunity lies in reshaping how investigations are conducted - augmenting expertise with unprecedented speed and scale - while still ensuring that control, judgement, and ethical responsibility remain with investigators."

The platform's architecture takes into account the unique challenges of investigations that rely heavily on OSINT, which frequently consists of unstructured data requiring advanced analysis methods. With its combination of automation and human oversight, Videris Automate aims to support investigative teams in meeting evolving regulatory and operational demands.

Ethics and integration

Blackdot Solutions states that Videris Automate is aligned with its commitment to ethical AI use and data security. It is designed to integrate into current investigative workflows without disrupting established processes. The company highlights that the platform is intended for both public and private sector organisations, supporting compliance with evidential and regulatory requirements expected within investigative work.

The launch of Videris Automate follows growing demand for technological solutions capable of addressing the complexity and volume of information involved in financial crime investigations. By automating routine data collection and analysis steps, the platform is set to allow investigative teams to focus their resources on judgement-intensive tasks, helping organisations respond more effectively to risk and compliance challenges.
