Ecommpay wins award for diversity & inclusion excellence

Fri, 24th Oct 2025

Ecommpay has received recognition for its workplace diversity and inclusion efforts, securing the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiative award in the Harrington Starr Top 1% Employer Awards.

The award recognises Ecommpay's ongoing efforts to prioritise inclusivity both within its organisation and in its business practices. The company's Chief Marketing Officer, Miranda McLean, commented on the significance of the award as an endorsement of their focus on financial inclusion.

"Since relaunching our brand in September 2024, Ecommpay has been on a mission to achieve financial inclusivity both for our own business and for the activities of our customers. We are, therefore, delighted that this effort has been recognised by the Harrington Starr Top 1% Employer Awards.
"We put inclusivity front and centre - for our people; for our customers and for their customers. In the last 12 months we have shifted the dial considerably, extending our partnerships with EWPN, EdenChase, the RNIB and Project Nemo, to raise awareness around inclusion in all senses (race, religion, gender, disabilities) both internally and externally."

Ecommpay's award submission highlighted a number of initiatives aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion. The company has implemented training programmes for both staff and merchants, covering neurodiversity awareness as well as unconscious bias and inclusive recruitment.

According to Ecommpay, participation in the UK's Disability Confident Scheme has been an important step. The company has sponsored workshops designed to help employees and merchants achieve all three tiers of the scheme, which supports organisations to be more inclusive of disabled people.

Accessibility has featured prominently in Ecommpay's recent activities, particularly around its re-brand. All website templates and design choices were made in alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure usability for people with a range of disabilities.

Ongoing work with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) includes pursuing recognition under the Visibly Better Employer scheme, which sets standards for accessibility and inclusivity in the workplace.

"Ultimately, Ecommpay aims to improve accessibility and financial inclusion for all consumers and merchants. Projects involving such significant investment generally focus on increasing sales as efficiently and effectively as possible, to increase the ROI. However, Ecommpay's focus is on delivering the best and most accessible customer experience possible," added Miranda McLean.

In the last year, Ecommpay has expanded collaborations with external organisations including the European Women Payments Network (EWPN), EdenChase, the RNIB and Project Nemo. These partnerships support awareness campaigns targeting a broad scope of topics, such as race, religion, gender, and disability inclusion.

Ecommpay's initiatives have also included efforts to ensure their digital presence is barrier-free. The company's statement emphasised alignment with best-in-class accessibility standards through design decisions made during their rebrand.

The Harrington Starr Top 1% Employer Awards aim to highlight employers demonstrating best practice in creating equitable, inclusive workplaces. Ecommpay's inclusion on the list acknowledges its stated progress over the past 12 months, as well as its stated ambitions to strengthen diversity and accessibility in payments for businesses and consumers alike.
